Policies Change Lives

Hello, my name is Lillian Dallis. I go to Keys High School, and it's my first year in YAHL. Physical activity and nutrition are important to me because students must learn what goes to the human body and what does not. Like how important it is to drink water, or what to do when you overwork yourself. Many people I know - My friends, family, and even loved ones - May suffer from low protein, or struggle with physical activity such as swimming or even taking a hike. It's hard for lots of people, and that's just the people I know personally.

With awareness and effort we can show what is healthy and unhealthy for the human body. Many students and teachers will be able to do more things that have been weighing them down and could potentially change their lives - like games, challenges, or even talking to one another about wellness policies to teach them why it's important and to have fun whilst doing something that is good for the body. If it were to happen, many people would feel better mentally and physically about their bodies while getting exercise and having a blast at doing so.

Others should care about comprehensive school wellness policies because it helps others with awareness, health, and a change in schools policies. Ever since I joined YAHL, many of my peers and I have been able to change lives and are able to make a difference. YAHL has taught me that policy matters to all teens and adults with awareness and health. Students could learn so much about how different policies can change lives and how they can make a difference. It may also teach them how important it is to be healthy and notice unhealthy habits in their lives. Not just teens, but everyone should know how wellness policies can affect many lives.
