Hello! My name is Chase. I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and have been one for over seven years. I am a student at Muskogee High School, and I am going into my junior year. I recently did an event for Elevate Student Health called “Swap Up Day” and would love to share it with you!
Elevate Student Health promotes a healthier environment for students in schools across Oklahoma. The campaign focuses on access to better nutrition, access to clean drinking water and increased exercise. Swap Up Day was focused on nutrition and the importance of understanding what we put into our bodies will affect how we feel. This was done by having the students choose a mood and then giving them a healthy snack option that correlates with that feeling.
With the Elevate Student Health campaign, our goal is to update and pass school wellness policies to implement what students really need. This includes speaking with our principals and school boards to show them what needs to be improved at schools and what policy elements should be adopted.

I want to see students prioritize their health, and I also hope to see schools and elected officials do the same.

Nutrition and Physical activity matter to me because they directly affect how I feel, how I learn, and how I show up each day.
