Hi, I'm Mia Vizueth, a senior at Stilwell High School. I've been part of the YAHL program for three years and am entering my final year. Through the YAHL Elevate Student Health campaign, I collaborate with local students, principals, school board members and policy makers. Our goal is to assist schools in updating their wellness policies, providing clean drinking water and promoting physical activity.
I've mainly worked with middle school students to educate them on maintaining their health, body and mind. Oklahoma has a high obesity rate, and from personal experience, I know being obese can lead to bullying, affect confidence and impact mental health. Therefore, we aim to teach youth how to maintain a healthy weight through nutritious food and regular physical activity, while also ensuring access to clean drinking water. Having experienced bullying due to my weight, I want to help youth understand that it is okay, and that we can support them in adopting healthy habits.

I want to see students prioritize their health, and I also hope to see schools and elected officials do the same.
