I am Mason S, a Sophomore at Putnam City West with one year of experience in YAHL, which stands for Youth Action for Health Leadership, and a new addition to the Leadership Team. In this blog, I will be talking about our Elevate Student Health Campaign.
Proper nutrition and physical activity are important for youth for their education, mental health, and physical health but as it turns out the youth really don't get it. In school students don't have many nutritional options for what they eat, though on school days they consume around 50% of their calories at school. We are trying to change policies in schools to get healthier food and more physical activity in schools for the physical and mental health of students, for better academic performance, and more physical performance of students in school.
The reason you should care about and support Elevate Student Health is because one day the youth of today will become the leaders of tomorrow so helping them to have healthy choices and helping them to have physical activity will install good habits in them so they will live healthier and longer and more prosperous lives. To become involved with YAHL and our Elevate Student Health campaign is to become involved with the future youth of Oklahoma meaning the future leaders of Oklahoma. The reason you should support YAHL’s Elevate Student Health campaign is to help the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

I want to see students prioritize their health, and I also hope to see schools and elected officials do the same.
