Hi, I’m Robby Wecker and I attend Howe High School. I want to be a chef when I graduate, so healthy food and overall health are especially important to me. I also have multiple family members who suffer from diabetes, which is another reason why health matters to me. That’s why I’m passionate about the Elevate Student Health campaign. Through this campaign, we aim to improve our school district’s wellness policy. We want to ensure that students have better access to healthy food, clean water and opportunities for exercise. This is important because students spend much of their time at school and receive a significant portion of their daily nutrition there.
The advocacy work for the Elevate Student Health campaign takes place through school-based activities. At my school, we hosted an event where we set up a booth in the hallway and provided students with healthy fruits and snacks while informing them about the importance of healthy eating and how food affects both physical and mental health. That’s why I believe other students should care about the Elevate Student Health campaign. It helps us create policies that benefit all students.

Why does this matter to me? Because physical health affects everything, how we learn, how we feel, and how we grow.
