I'm Ginavie Carpenter, and I've worked with Tiffany Harris for the YAHL program at our school. We both are from Valliant High School, and I'm in 10th grade. I joined YAHL because I saw the change they were trying to make, and my school really needs a change.
YAHL has a campaign called Elevate Student Health, and I work with Elevate Student Health to help make my school a healthier environment. Elevate Student Health events can take place in schools and at school events. Elevate Student Health is trying to help my school adopt a comprehensive wellness policy with healthier food options, increased physical activity and clean drinking water.
I believe everybody should care about comprehensive school wellness policies because youth are getting sick and are harmed by the unhealthy food options and drinking water. Our school currently doesn't have very good food options, so I plan to help change that with Elevate Student Health. I also plan to help in any way that I can to make our water cleaner because our school is right next to a paper mill, which pollutes our water. I am glad that my school has Elevate Student Health, and I am looking forward to being a part of change.

I want to see students prioritize their health, and I also hope to see schools and elected officials do the same.
